As the season came inching towards to the end, we saw that the future of Sebastien Ogier and M-Sport future was much of a wild-goose chase from the past couple of rallies. Ogier‘s mentor team, Citroen Racing were very keen on seating back their protege back in their Citroen C3 WRC for the upcoming season, but officially they too announced that their offer was off stating that the ‘demand’ by the reigning world champ being too steep. Toyota‘s Gazoo World Rally Team‘s Japanese officials early and confirmed option to house Ott Tanak, and his acceptance meant ‘doors closed’ to the Frenchman.
The WRC Gala Night party, right after Rally Australia witnessed the World Champ and M-Sport’s boss, Malcolm Wilson missing from the final official party of the season. This was noted by many and it was more obvious on to why. However after quite some days later, yesterday Sebastien Ogier & Elfyn Evans both officially signed their contracts yesterday at Cumbria, M-Sport HQ at their 2017 season-ending party and ‘broke their suspense’ on the future of both the reigning world champs.
So with this signing, the 2018 season will definitely see another exciting set of events ahead!
